Introduction

Kedarnath is one of India’s 12 Jyotirlingas. Kedarnath is a Hindu holy town in the Rudraprayag district of Uttarakhand, India. It is one of the Char Dhams, or holy places, in the Himalayas. Kedarnath is located at an incredible 3584 meters above sea level near the Mandakini River’s head. Thousands of tourists visit the Kedarnath temple each year, which is located among the majestic snow-capped Garhwal Himalayan ranges.

Although Kedarnath is no longer the same after 2013, the beauty of nature remains; you will enjoy the scenery and waterfalls on your way to the Baba Kedarnath Temple.

Kedarnath Dham’s location

Kedarnath is a Hindu religious site in Uttarakhand’s Rudraprayag district. The holy town and one of the Char Dham are located in the Kedarnath Valley at an elevation of 3584 meters.  It can be reached by Trek, Dandi, Kandi, or Helicopter. Kedarnath is easily accessible by car, plane, or train. Kedarnath is accessible directly from Haridwar, but it is also worth spending at least one day there. The 240-kilometer journey is mostly on a ghat road, with mountains in the background and the Ganges River following you the entire way.

Consider renting a jeep if your group is larger than 5-6 people.

There are two modes of transportation available to visit the Kedarnath temple:

Chopper and horse/pony. You can book a chopper in advance for around 7000-6500 from Phata. It will take 8-10 minutes to get there. Pony will need to travel to Sonprayag and then to Gaurikund by Jeep, which will cost you 20INR. Then you can get it from Gaurikund; the cost varies depending on the season, but the normal rate is 1400INR to and 1100INR from Kedarnath Dham. Get your registration slip completed before beginning your journey, and then begin your journey.

If you’re going to walk the entire 17 kilometers to Kedarnath Temple, it’s a good idea to take in the beauty of nature and the waterfalls along the way. However, in my experience, walking to the Kedarnath temple is not easy; however, if you have a trekking habit, it will be simple for you. It is preferable to begin early in the morning and finish before evening.

There are food stalls along the route that serves light fare.
